 ABDANK-ABAKANOWICZ QUADRATRIX

Curve studied by A.-Abakanowicz in 1889.
Bruno Abdank-Abakanowicz (1852-1900): polish engineer.
Other name: circular integral.

Differential equation: .
Cartesian parametrization: .
Transcendental curve.

The quadratrix of Abdank-Abakanowicz is the curve plotted by the integraph of Abdank-Abakanowicz, starting from a circle.

This device allowed, on the basis of a given curve of parametrization X = x(t), Y = y(t), to build the curve of Cartesian parametrization:
X = x(t), Y .

For the curve we are dealing with, x(t) = R sin t and y(t) = R cos t.

As its name indicates, it is a quadratrix (see [Carrega] p 85).
