DÜRER FOLIUM

Albrecht Dürer (1471 - 1528): German painter and engraver.

Polar equation: .
Cartesian parametrization:  (t = q / 2).
Cartesian equation: .
Rationalsextic.

The Dürer folium is a special case of rose, for n = 1/2; it is therefore also a special case of epitrochoid, with q = 2 and k = 3.

The blue circle has a radius twice as long as that of the black circle, and the bar three times as long.

It also is the inverse of the Delanges trisectrix, and therefore also has the property of trisection indicated opposite; the angle MOP is the third of AOP.

See also Freeth's nephroid which is one of its conchoids.

The Dürer folium made of a gear belt by Lévi Caparéda.
